AirTran sets quarterly record for traffic
AirTran Airways had another record quarter for traffic, the airline said Monday.
Traffic, also known as revenue passenger miles, jumped 7.5 percent to 4.4 million in the first quarter. Traffic also spiked 9.6 percent in March.
Load factor — how full planes were — was also up by 0.9 percentage points to 77.2 percent in the first quarter. It was up 3.1 points to 83.3 percent in March.
Passengers flown was up 3.4 percent to 5,526,408 for the first quarter and rose 6.5 percent to 2,182,851 in March.
AirTran Airways is a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings Inc. (NYSE: AAI). Its main hub is at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
