Iceland volcano throws trans-Atlantic travel from SFO into disarray

A volcanic eruption in Iceland threw trans-Atlantic flight into disarray Thursday, forcing some carriers leaving San Francisco’s airport to cancel trips to London and Paris.

An ash cloud from the volcano prompted the closure of all British airports until at least 7 a.m. local time Friday. Airports in France have been shut down as well.

As a result, five nonstop flights to London from San Francisco were canceled Thursday, airport officials said. Carriers such as Air France, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and United Airlines were affected guaranteed pay day loans.

The volcano in southern Iceland began erupting late Tuesday, prompting some airlines to suspend trans-Atlantic flights due to a plume of ash spreading through the atmosphere.

It was unclear Thursday when all flights from SFO to London and Paris would resume.
