Manpower: More Raleigh-Cary employers plan to hire in 3Q
More Raleigh-Cary employers plan to hire during the third quarter, giving hope to those seeking jobs.
According to Manpower’s quarterly employment outlook survey, 19 percent of employers in the Raleigh-Cary area plan to hire in sometime during July, August and September while just 5 percent plan to cut their staffs.
The result is a net employment outlook of 14 percent, up from 1 percentage point during the same year-ago period but down from 16 percent in the second quarter.
“Employers expect a much faster hiring pace compared with one year ago,” says Manpower spokesman Michael Doyle.
Job prospects are strongest in construction, durable goods manufacturing, nondurable goods manufacturing, transportation and utilities, information, financial activities, education and health services, leisure and hospitality, other services and government, according to the survey.
Employment in wholesale and retail trade and professional and business services is expected to remain unchanged.
The Raleigh-Cary job market is emerging faster than the rest of the nation. According to the survey, 18 percent of employers plan on hiring while 10 percent plan to reduce their payrolls for a net employment outlook of 8 percent.
Staffing firm Manpower polled 18,000 U.S. employers for its survey, which the company has reported for 47 years.The company limited the survey to the top 100 labor markets. The Durham market did not make the list.
