TXU Energy to help Stripes save on energy

Stripes convenience stores throughout Texas stand to gain up to $175,000 in rebates by joining TXU Energy's Energy Efficiency Rebate Program, which gives businesses rebates for implementing sensible procedures to conserve energy in their facilities.

Harlingen-based Stripes has signed a 29-month contract with TXU Energy and agreed to retrofit T12 fluorescent fixtures with energy-efficient T8s as part of the initiative.

In addition, the company said it would replace less efficient lighting fixtures with LED canopy fixtures and will install TXU Energy iThermostats in select stores bad credit personal loan lenders.

The plan is expected to save enough energy to power 8,600 homes. As part of the program, many stores also will add updated HVAC controls.
